From the Toybox: A buff silkie and a buff bantam cochin sitting a combined ten duck eggs from the Bucky flock. The silkie is "blowing coat" right now, and her name is "Scruffie". Her sister broodie is "Buffie". Pictures later, hopefully. It depends on how they feel about the paparrazza.

I have Cochins and I absolutely love them. I just hatched Deathlayer Cochin Crosses. They are probably the most mellow of all my chickens.

Was checking the eggs (13 Cream Legbar) in the incubator, like I do several times a day, and saw one move . Did a double take. Wasn't really expecting that. Fetched hubby to come look, he was totally bemused - "There's somebody in there!" Tomorrow is day 18.

Woke up to four chicks this morning, mid day 20. I'll have to read the last 25 pages later, I've been busy with a sick DH and hadn't had time to check in lately. One more busted out a few hours ago and two others are working on unzipping now.

The four as I moved them to the brooder:

Made a brace from a sponge cut in half and stacked together and vet wrap. first time she has fallen asleep today not cradled.

she hasn’t eaten today but is drinking so I made a slurry of her food and she gobbled up a few tablespoons worth.
