You are killing me :lau

Dont you wish that you didnt get rid of the crates... We keep lots of boxes so that we can put our rehomed chickens in them for the new owners.

At this moment, yes. Because I haven't caught the roos yet and it would be SO much easier to just lure them into crates. Neither one is pet friendly and it's going to be a chore to catch them without getting my eyes pecked out 😂 Nevermind trying to stuff them into laundry baskets. And we just burned all our cardboard.

Storing the big huge crates takes up so much room though, I have a GSD and a border collie. I sold the crates!

Candled my BCM and SFH eggs this morning (both sets of eggs in very poor condition - shaken up - when they arrived) and I don't think it is looking good. Only day 4 so I will give them some more time. Hard to see in the BCM so can't say for sure on them...they are all still questionable. The SFH eggs are light though. Out of 7 I am pretty sure there are 3 clears, 1 definite blood ring, and 3 that might have some development. Hopefully my Welsummer eggs that are on the way show up in better shape. And still waiting on the silkie eggs.

In the meantime, I am watching ebay for multiple types of marans eggs, Svart Hona eggs, Goldneck d'Uccle eggs, Call Duck eggs, and CCL eggs.

I’m sorry those eggs don’t look good, but maybe they’ll surprise you

Ordered the coturnix. Looks like they have a ton of color varieties running together so be interesting to see what I wind up with. :) thanks!
I had a breeder who had the same where all the colors were together. I got a bunch of rare colors that I was going to order this month. Guess I don’t have to now.

I was thinking to try a vertical hatch, cutting the bottoms from an egg carton, and placing the eggs upright. My turner is upright, so it would not be a change to the chicks, plus they would not be able to mess with their sibling eggs AND I can fit more eggs in the hatcher or leave a larger (clear) space for them after they hatch.
I did that this last time with shipped eggs. They hatched no problem. Funny to see them "pop" off the lid of the egg and then tip over. They did fine though! :)
