I’ve got turkey eggs coming tonight from friends

1st broody hen hatched had her eggs hatch yesterday. Apparently she was sitting on a clutch of a total 2 eggs, but she’s so proud of her two puff balls. The other girls in there are jealous.
2nd broody is due to hatch this coming Saturday.

@SnapdragonQ i offered to buy some pullet turkens, but they want to keep them so they are sending me a dozen fertile turken eggs. I can’t wait to see them!

Can't wait to see what hatches out for you. They always make me chuckle when I see them and their nakedness.

You meant turken, not turkey, right? Cuz naked turkeys?? Now those would be funny.

Anyone ever hatch out Bielefelders? I've been contemplating adding some to the flock.

I just lost a chick that was zipping out when a trio of wet wobbly hatchlings bashed it against the side of the bator. What I did (and was awake all night in order to do this) was whenever one hatched I'd nab it and the eggshell before the others could get knocked around and put the new hatchling, sans shell, in a tupperware dish so baby could stretch it's legs a little and the other eggs were safe.
I don't see why you couldn't do the same, or the reverse with the eggs in a dish.

Walked out to the coop to a hawk flying out of the barn. My broody mama screaming, I found some of her feathers in the grass and no babies.



she is still calling to them. How long until she settles? Is there anything I can do for her? Poor mama.

I don’t have any! And she is the one that killed the day olds I tried to give her in the middle of her brood. I think she will just have to adjust.

Anyone ever hatch out Bielefelders? I've been contemplating adding some to the flock.

I hatched out some for the Easter HAL. I received 8 I think and only 3 made it all the way to lockdown. All 3 hatched and I got exactly what I wanted, 2 pullets and 1 cockerel. They are huge compared to my BCM that hatched the same day.
