June Hatch-A-Long

I checked on my broody when I got home from work, and she was off the nest but next to it. It is pretty hot here. It was 90’s today. Is she just keeping eggs from getting too hot? She’s been good and this hasn’t been an issue. She’s been getting up for about 15 minutes at noon everyday and comes right back, but today got off again and just sat next to box. What the....? We are day 16.
Have you candled them to see if they’re still good?

Ooooooh, unrestricted, nice. Technically we're not even supposed to have chickens, and I so miss living in the country :-(.
Me either.

I have a clause though for 4h and “similar” orgs, so, I literally started a chicken club. feed store sponsors, “club projects”... the whole nine .... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ hehe

but, I still can’t have roosters because they’ve told me they’ll classify it as a nuisance so I always have to rehome them after I hatch a couple sets of eggs... so I have to go. And the whole driving around once a month and poa members looking at your place is annoying.

So are you getting a place that allows roosters? I couldn’t imagine not being able to hatch my own eggs. That thought scares me

I want goats. I want horses. I'm 63. Why am I doing this?
Because it's never to late to be what you might have been!:)
I know a lady in her 80's who runs her horse farm by herself, lugs feed and everything. She had to have shoulder surgery, so she hired a young local guy to help her out, while she was recovering. She was very reluctant, but it all worked out for her. She is incredibly fit and strong for her age!

That will be me 😂 lugging my chicken feed, pine shavings, and hay. They’ll call me the crazy chicken lady because I’ll talk to my chickens more than people 😂

The current place FINALLY is going on the market in two weeks. I mean this has been foreverrrrr but everything happens when it’s supposed to I suppose. 🤣

no we are waiting to sell our place first, and then we will move into my mothers barn for a couple of months. 🤪 It’s really very nice, but it’s still a horse barn and it’s still temporary, so it will still definitely be crazy....but we can keep all of our animals with us and not have to be over committed and wait for our current place to sell before buying something else.

we are currently under heavy, heavy property and deed restrictions so we are going to go to an unrestricted property, downsize the house and upsize the acreage probably. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
Oh, you are doing it the smart and logical way. Unlike me *cough*...

I was lucky in that my last larger farm had no restrictions nor does my newer smaller farm. I still have enough acres to have what I want, though the acres are not flat in any way, but when you live in the mountains. And, no more plowing snow, busting ice in the water troughs, or delivering babies in -0F. I miss it all, but I don't miss doing it all, by myself.

Here's hoping your place sells fast and for over the asking. And hoping you and the crew find the farm of your dreams. :fl :fl :fl
Did I ever ask...what kind of horses?
Oh, and how are the other Sebastopols doing?
