June Hatch-A-Long

I believe I have read here and there that silkies are hard to hatch.

I tried a batch from a seller here. (My 1st incubation ever so it was me Im sure). I had 4 out of 13 go into lockdown, none hatch. 1 had pipped internally but never made it out.

Yay for 1 chickie at least!!!

The 2 other pippers havent started zipping, and no other pips. Sure hoping to wake up to more pips tomorrow!!!

Well, Doodle is an only silkie - I pipped the other eggs enough to look inside - 1 still had yolk, 1 pipped the membrane but that was it, 1 pipped the membrane at the wrong end, and the last pipped the membrane but was sooooo cross beaked it looked as there was no way for it to have gotten through the shell

I'm kinda feeling ya Mayberrygirl. First hatch is at day 21 today and first one to pip pips in the middle of the egg... twice. not good. Holding out hopes for the 2 that are left. Plus side is I have a bunch of other eggs to hatch later in the month. 13BO, 6BSF, and 6BA

My last hatch, 2 ameracaunas pipped at the small end and both hatched just fine. They are almost a month old now.

I woke up to 2 new babies today. The other 2 pippers.

And just in the past hr, another SS has pipped!!
