Do you know what they are?
They're all Ameraucanas. In the next couple days i'll have some barnevelders hatching too.

Next hatch i am doing ducks! Hooray!

One of our peepers are pipping. Candled before lockdown on Thurs, of 15 eggs, 5 are no-goers. I have a home made eggiebator, and even though it runs perfectly all day, every day, on Friday I went out for three hours, came home, and the temp had spiked to 106

. Oh well, I'm just gonna let them all run anyhow, and see what happens. Maybe it was due to chick action. I'm sure there were times last summer when my temp spiked that high due to baby action.

Lockdown for my first batch of duck eggs is in 3 days! I have high hopes for these two but since its my first duck hatch...I'm nervous!

Silkies are black skinned also. I would call who ever you got your eggs from....lol
They said the silkie hens might have escaped their pen, sorry. lol They have Orpingtons, Americaunas, White leghorn, RIR, Wyandottes, Turkins, and Black Australorps... So, I'm thinking leghorn or orps? or we got swindled.

18 days ago I found that one of my hens was sitting on a 3 eggs. Honestly I didn't know how long she's been setting, because I hadn't checked on them the day before, but it couldn't have been for more than 1-2 days. I placed an egg from another nesting box under her.
I wanted to try another breed, so I purchased some eggs and was going to put them under her too, but decided to use the incubator with them instead, because of the issues with staggered hatches with broody hens.

Over the past 2 weeks, there were issues with other hens getting into the box with the broody, and one egg broke. A few times I found that because of the other hens in the box, some of the eggs weren't being covered consistently. Several days ago I went out and found she had changed nests, so I brought the cool eggs in and added them to my incubator where I have the purchased eggs. One of the eggs was a dud, so that one was tossed.
I wasn't expecting babies until Tuesday or Wednesday. These 2 eggs I estimated to be at day 18-19, but came home today to hear chirping coming from one of the eggs. :) (The purchased eggs are on day 14.)
She has pipped (wishful thinking, it is a pink egg). I took the two eggs out of the closed egg carton, and put them in an open top container with some moist paper towels to boost the humidity in their micro-climate.

So one chick on the way... who knows how long before the next one. The other of these eggs is on day 18. (It's the one I found and put under her when I realized she was broody.

After these 9 get out, I wont have anything until the 23rd. It will be nice for a break!
