June Hatch a Long

Had a bit if a rodeo.........DH let broody out and left the dog kennel door open.........
I heard screaming from a hen, ran to investigate and a BLRW older pullet had run broody out and was
comfortably setting the eggs....Broody went hysterical running outside screaming........I removed the pullet...
she tried to bite me and encouraged the broody back into the coop area..................
Poor baby just could not calm down enough to figure out it was OK to go back to her eggs.
Then I heard chirping and sure enough, there was a chick....she went back no problem after hearing the chick.
Her blood pressure must be way up there............... 1 out, 11 to go...
And 17 under the other broody due now also.......She is a huge English Orpington with no problem covering that many eggs...........

Wow good luck. My girls eggs are due next week. They sit beside each other. My first girl gave my bannie girl two of her eggs. Can't wait till next week. Going to be in the 80s here! Yeah

Top right corner is Columbian Wyandotte that hatched with a little help yesterday. (Hopefully it's a "she")
Center is first of Swedish Flower Hens to hatch. It waited all day and decided to hatch just after I arrived home from work!
I am going to set up an area for my broody hen to raise these guys...
2 down, 6 more to go!

That is sweet .I have had pairs of hens set and raise chicks together.
They are sooooooo smart....................
I also had an old girl that would steal chicks if she got a chance........
Couldn't figure out how on earth she did that Then one day saw her push a chick under her wing and run off.............

I don't think I will ever outgrow the excitement of new chicks...............

Been in a conference the last two days so I am trying to keep up. Some cute babies out there. Congrats! DH candled eggs under brood hen and claims they are still growing. I have no idea when they would be hatching. He also claims the incubator eggs are still alive....day 25. He went to candle them on day 24 and claims there is movement. I don't know if that is true or possible or just his wishful thinking. He has nothing smelling bad. What was the longest it took for your eggs to hatch?

One good thing is he is finally posting a sign for fresh egg sales. We will see how that goes.

I usually keep my eggs 25 days I hatch weekly and need to clean the hatcher for the next clutch...............

my poor ducky is so lonely that he stays infront of the glass door all day,

I just realized that its because he sees his reflection on the glass.

lol I need to get him a mate

I usually keep my eggs 25 days I hatch weekly and need to clean the hatcher for the next clutch...............

He claims temp/hum has been dead on. He works at a very busy self-storage center with the owners permission has the incubator on display. I asked if someone may opened it during this time....including his boss....she is not bright. He straight out asked her and she said no. He did put taoe on the outside but I explained that anyone can re tape it. He claims he saw movement yesterday. I say if they are not hatched after tomorrow they are not going to. I really wanted the SFH and Blue Splash Ameraucanas. I have to find local sources for day olds or eggs. I am at the point from here on out they have to be picked up eggs and I need to know the age of them. This was close to $100 in eggs down the drain.

Our lone house chicken does that in the oven door glass. He used to sleep in front of it, but now he hangs out with the dogs.

Some people use the float test..................as a last resort..............
