June Hatch a Long

So far today 1 quail 1 polish 1 oegb. 1 unzipping and 4 pips! What sucessful day!

Last night went to close up the chicks and I could not Angie, ester and the chicks. We looked all over. Could not find them.
Got up this am and there they are all out grazing in the grass.

Well here we go again. I can't find them anywhere and it is still daylight.
I wish they wouldn't hide like this. Guess I will follow them all day tomorrow!

That would have startled me if I saw it.  I have read others report that their chicks sleep on their back and continued to do so after maturing.
That's how I feel right now. So exhausted! Helped hubby build a duck house & pen for call ducks I'm picking up tomorrow.
I've got one dead mutt. Does anybody know if the rest of this hatch, will be compromised or not? Ack! What a dilemma! I've got 2 Malines out now. Yay! 7 more have pipped & some zipping. What a day!

Great pics of your fuzz balls Alibabe! Fabulous hatch!
Haven't had dinner yet & its 9 pm. Having a well earned cooler now, waiting for supper to arrive. Yay for fuzz balls!
I have not had dinner so I think I will skip. This heat diminishes my appetite. The cooler, I could go for. Why did not go and pick something up?

I am going to wait a few more days and keep my fingers crossed, but it looks like all 5 eggs in todays hatch were quitters. Only fill half the egg. Going to watch for movement, but i am not real hopeful. My batch scheduled for 2 weeks from now look great so far. Eyes, movement, it kills me not to have a light constantly against an egg to watch them.

Seven baby buttons hatched so far 15 eggs still waiting. I can't count pips anymore due to empty shells and the babies running all over everything lol. Ill update again in the morning :)

Congrats for all the new fuzzballs,

This is such fun.

What are you hatching next? You really had a very successful hatch for shipped eggs. Congrats!

I have 12 cream crested legbar eggs arrived yesterday morning and I am waiting on 12 (supposed to be French) BCM. I am hoping that my current batch of fuzzballs will give me a breeding trio of SLO and RIR, then my next lot will give me breeding trios or quads. Then all I will need is more layers as I have people at work who are looking for eggs and currently I only have 6 layers.

I still need to build the runs for the breeding pens and plan to build a bigger brooder today. I have enough space to put all the current lot together with my other girls but will need at least 2 more coops to house them all before they need to be separated for breeding.

My poor DH, he agreed to 2 chickens last August, now we have chickens everywhere but my girls know he is the treats man, so all good.

Aw nuts! I've got one of those with half egg filled at day 18. I didn't toss it. Am curious what will happen with it. Here's to a better hatch in 2 weeks! I love watching them too!
