June Hatch a Long

Mind if I join in? My eggs are due to hatch June 2nd!

It is just over 1 week old so a little early to tell. It is sooo sweet though! I love it.

Too bad Baby's baby (lol) ended up being a boy, but then again you are still able to get grandbabies from her once these eggs hatch!

It's so good to hear that SF's are such a great breed!! I have some in the bator and under a broody for hatching next june 11(i think). So excited about them too!!!

Faverolles are absolutely the most friendly and curious hens - mine was a doll, followed me around clucking - asking to be held. She always wanted to be near me. I miss that little hen! She was my only SF, a single hatch from shipped eggs. I didn't have any males so her chick is mixed- EE/SF. I wish he was full SF but I'm going to still get some babies from him. He has her personality so that's enough for me :)

Hellooooooooooooo, man this is going to be a good size bunch too! A couple of us are going to the biggest swap in the state of Missouri this coming weekend. I am looking for some hatching eggs. Something I wont have to worry about the USPS handling.
I have 3 staggered hatches going. I have one set of RIR due 6/6 another set due 6/11, then bunts due 6/16. These I totally expect to be a bust. They got lost in the postal system and were pretty beaten up and at least 10 days old when they arrived. BUT I decided to give them a go! All the RIR are my neighbors, helping him rebuild his flock.

Just thought I would share what I got coming on June. I was in the may thread as well but I have 16 buff orph eggs 5 magpie duck eggs a pig due to farrow an a bunny due to kit. So I will be very very busy this month. Lots of pics an post from me this month lol

I would look at the roos in that pen for culling if your using these as breed pens. If the WHOLE pen is coming up infertile that would be the roos fault, not doing his job. Or lethal genes he's carrying. Prolly the 1st reaon. Or he's sterile. Either way I would suspect roo. Even if he doing his part his part might not be getting done correctly/successfully.
Someone told me that it may be the fact that his girlfriend is *difficult* and this may be true, too. She is a very alpha personality and the first boy she was with used to pull her head mostly bald... I think he *needed* to, to control her. The little guy she is with now is a small Serama and not very assertive with her. He might be going to a new home tomorrow anyway... just a shame I never got any babies from him.

and here he is day six
