June Hatch a Long

I am thinking the same thing, but not sure I can justify that kind of expenditure. Maybe the $150 type. Not sure. Will be doing a lot of research first.
just ask, as far as a styro goes the gqf 1588 hova is hard to beat its a dry hatchers dream set it and forget it i have seen hatch rates as good if not better than brinseas that cost 3 times as much. the brinsea Eco series are fine incubators with the addition of their humidity pump you have a really nice set up but its gonna set you back almost 600 bucks and for a table top incubator ? ahhh little to much for me to justify but people here have really good hatches with them for that kind of scratch the gqf digital sportsman is probably the best you can do for the money, i have had great hatches in my Colman coolerbator my son built in ffa class in school we had some 100% hatch rates with our own eggs and it was just a old metal cooler with two 40 watt bulbs and two snap disk thermostats wired in series i honestly believe knowing the process a egg needs to go through during incubation and hatching proper hygiene and method and the quality of the eggs at the time of setting are the true measure of success in hatch rates,, a better bator will do a better hands off job by taking care of all the variables the egg needs to go through during incubation but if all the other criteria are not followed hatch rates simply will not get any better,,,,,,just sayin

I just got back from candling 10 eggs...found two browns ones that must have been laid when she got up for a potty/streatch break so took them out (I'll keep them separate from my selling eggs just in case there's a "surprise inside". LOL)

My homemade candler was a toilet paper tube (with about an inch and a half TP still on it) and a mini mag light. I had a flashlight like the one posted with the film canister but it wasn't bright enough.

I was estimating this to be day 7 and was expecting to see small dot with veins but I saw about half of the egg in darkness on 7 or 8 of the eggs. Kind of like day 10 (middle photo) or day 12 on the Chicks are Here Egg Candle pixs thread.

It is sort of like seeing the ultrasound of my kids (not as much detail, but it kind of makes it more "real").

Sounds like my BIG incubator I made. But is styro coole,r 2 light fixures. 1 thermo and 1 pc fan. When I added stackable trays I did have to add a 2nd pc fan but it holds temps within 1 degree. All for honestly better than free. You could say I got paid for it. 100 lbs of scrap recycled =$7 I paided $1 for the scrap parts. Kept thermo recycled rest. Bulbs cost me $1.49 for four. Everything else I had on hand. So I got paid around $4-$5 to make it in the long run. LOL can't beat that. Well can if I get a great hatch rate from it, lol on 1st set but am using like a cabinet style and hatching in LG's. Last month had 1/4 the hatch capacity or less.
