Still haven't pulled the plug on my bator, but I did relocate the 4 chicks to the outdoor brooder. I underestimated their curiosity and overestimated their size, so now they are running amok with the 4 week old chicks. One older chick got too nosey and grabbed a foot of a baby, but another older chick pecked it in the face to let go. I keep checking on them every couple hours and so far it looks like they are co-habitating peaceably. The new chicks are able to run back between the bars to get away from the older chicks if necessary, but so far they have only been running from each other.
 
Okay, I am on day 11, candled day 3 and couldn't find the aircell in one of my silkie eggs. Candled day 7, found the aircell. In the wrong end! It's not detatched, so I just flipped with the aircell up. Candled day 10, definite activity! So I'm guessing I did the right thing by flipping it, but wanted some reassurance!
 
Congrats to the new hatches!!! Love the cute pics! So far i have 9 out of 12 eggs developing really well. today is day 10. Candled them and saw great development and movement. :-D So excited!!! My broody is still doing well with her 4. I am not sure the one Isbar she has will hatch, but I am going to leave it and just keep and eye on it so it doesn't burst on her. I have more eggs lined up to come in july 7th. My birthday gift to my self 4 days early. :) Any one else doing a July hatch?!?!?
 
Candled my eggs today, day 8; 7 Cream Legbar eggs, 7 eggs with veining and chick movement, all at 3.8% weight loss/normal air cell growth. Everything is right on track! :D What a night-and-day difference from my shipped eggs. Even the veining looks healthier!
2 more are under a first-time broody... Might candle them tonight, but it is tempting to leave well enough alone. She has the ones that had air cells on the side, so I am mostly just curious to see what they have done.

As you can kind of see, the last one, who just hatched this morning, has a raw belly button. It sticks out a bit, so it's in the box so the other chicks don't pick at it. I am putting antibacterial ointment on it regularly, so here's hoping it heals up. Baby is eating and drinking fine, and hyper, trying to get out of the box to be with the others in the brooder. It's egg was nice and clean though, and she didn't seem to have any trouble hatching.
