June Hatch a Long

Had a Salmon Fav hatch Sunday. Must have been really wet... It's still crusty.

One of my salmon faverolles looks just like this - hatched Sunday as well. I thought she was wet, but wasn't - just crusty. Here she is now.

she's the littlest one in the middle, much smaller than the others and her down is short. I wonder what caused it - she was hatched by a broody. The other 6 are fluffy and overall much bigger (aside from the fluff). Being closest to the camera she appears bigger than she is. Seems to be keeping up though.

Our five new babies, hatched Sunday and Monday:

As you can kind of see, the last one, who just hatched this morning, has a raw belly button. It sticks out a bit, so it's in the box so the other chicks don't pick at it. I am putting antibacterial ointment on it regularly, so here's hoping it heals up. Baby is eating and drinking fine, and hyper, trying to get out of the box to be with the others in the brooder. It's egg was nice and clean though, and she didn't seem to have any trouble hatching.

Love the white munk patterned one! What is it?

Yes mine is also much smaller than the one that hatched under a broody a few days earlier. I think mine was due to low temp in bator. But had hugh humidity on some days...

EggieRowe:
We got the eggs from a farm that has Ameraucana's, EE's, and Cochins hens, so who knows! They had one of each Ameraucana and Cochin Roos, both of whom were gorgeous, and everybody was all mixed up and free ranging together.

They are beautiful! What breeds are they?

That's why I'm not so sure if it was incubation related. All seven of mine were hatched under the same hen - and she could've covered twice that number so I doubt it was due to a cool spot. I guess she's just the runt! Were yours from your own hens?
