June Hatch a Long

I was going to watch the skywalker thing, but then saw it was 3 hours!
I guess I will youtube the highlights.
Day 18 today, going into lockdown.
We have to go out of town now for 2 weeks on Saturday, which is day 22, so fingers crossed everyone gets here on time!!!!

I would guess that who ever will be taking care of the chicks will see the last ones hatch....lol

lockdown last night...hatch on wensday. The "wait"

First of all......I am really worried about El!

Second, Look at this face. This is an Ameracauna I hatched this weekend! I love this face. This chick will be staying for awhile!

Day 21 begins. No pips. No zips. No movement. No cheeps.

I keep telling myself "this was a long shot" since the beginning. A knowledgeable friend says to be patient until at least day 23 (it is her incubator) and then give it a couple more days.

I'm goin' crazy here.

Definitely give it more time before quitting!

well..... my June hatch is finally over.... I ended up with 17 chicks out of the 28 that went into lockdown.

last night I moved my last 2 chicks to the brooder and had 2 more pipped but when I got up this morning there were no more pips no chirping no movement or anything. the 2 chicks that had pipped had their beaks right by the hole but they weren't moving or anything so I decided to candle and see if I had movement and nothing. they died. so I decided to candle the others and no movement there either. I pipped the end of the eggs to see what was going on in there and all but 2 were in position and had internally pipped but never pipped externally. none of them were shrink wrapped and there was no water or anything in there. they were fully developed and looked like chicks about to hatch. I dont' know what could have happened. why would they pip internally and just die??? I have never had that happen before. the 2 that hadn't internally pipped looked like they may have quit during lockdown.

i was surely hoping to have most if not all of them hatch but i guess it just wasn't meant to be

i guess i will be lurking here to watch all of your babies hatch. congrats to everyone with new chicks and keeping my fingers crossed for everyone else hatching the rest of the month.

i do have the 7 eggs that are due to hatch approximately july 6th and i will be setting more eggs later on today if my hen hasn't decided to go broody. i was hoping she would set them but if not oh well..... guess they will go in the bator. I hope to see you all on the July hatch along thread.
