June Hatch a Long

I always want to take them out... but I don't unless they are the last ones. I won't risk shrink wrapping the others. Just try to walk away and not watch lol

If it makes you feel any better I can't even count my pips anymore because that one in there won't stop running around and all the other eggs have rolled pip side down now.

I have them right beside me, can't stop looking at them

I am also having trouble keeping tabs of the pips cos they are running all over the eggs and moving them. Still fluff balls. They are not dry yet so won't open the incubator, promise

Thanks!

It's a lavender orpington. I've wanted one forever and finally found someone on ebay only a couple hours drive from me (so it wouldn't be in the mail too long). I bought 12+, he sent me 20, and 15 hatched so I'm super excited!!!

:weee go babies go!!! 6 now pipped and 1 egg has a second pip next to its first pip - so excited now!!! I have a dentist appointment in 1.5 hrs, don't want to cancel it but I hate to leave these babies although everytime I have left them to do something, I come back to the incubator and there is a new development. They are hiding from me, I know it :gig Congrats to all the new babies :woot
Yay Alibabe! Go to the dentist...you will have a nice surprise when you get back, and as long as no-one is having issues right now, it's not long enough that you couldn't assist when you get back if there are issues. So exciting!!! Go chickies!!!
I got some eggs rocking in the egg turner, just before switching them to the other unit! Yay! Day 18, the fun begins!
sounds like you are off to a great start! Come on fluff balls!
I just got my first hatchling. I had to help. He/she had been struggling for 36 hours and pipped on the wrong end of the egg. Mama is a Buff Orp, daddy was an EE. He/she is having a problem getting upright, but everything appears to be working right. Maybe that is normal. My VERY FIRST HATCH, ever.
Yay! I am glad you helped. I was just writing that 36 hours is too long when I saw this post. I had to assist in my first hatch too, and it was nerve-wracking. Now you have done it though, so you are better prepared for the future. Often chicks who struggle are weak and take a little longer to stand. Even normal hatchers can take an hour or two.. I had one this hatch that a broody squished in the egg and abandoned half hatched. It was cold and almost lifeless, took 12 hours to even sit upright and 24 to stand, but now looks like all the rest. Good luck on the rest of your hatch!!
After having a zero hatch for the last THREE incubating sessions, I have a tiny little bit of success this time with FOUR having hatched successfully. The latest chick is a bit weaker than the others, but still hanging in there. Since it is now day 23 and I still have at least 20 eggs in there, I opted to do the float test for the very first time. Well, I either did it wrong or every single one of these eggs is still viable! A few rocked and rolled, but all floated with about 15% above the water line, just like the posted instructions said. So back into the incubator they have gone. No idea what will come of them, but at least there is still hope. FYI - The hatched ones so far are a BLRW, a FBCM, a Barred Cochin and a Barnevelder. Yay!
. Great job so far! Sounds like maybe temp was low if so many are late. The rollers are obviously still alive, but the 15% floaters could be recently deceased. I would definitely wait another day since you had some rockers though! Best of luck, and congrats on the four!!!
Uggg! So mad at myself :-( I. Just dropped an egg. Perfectly formed chick inside. I know its happened to others too but I feel horrible!
It is an awful feeling. I once eggtopsied an egg that I swear had a blood ring on candling, but there was an appropriately developing embryo. It was my only lav orp egg to make it thru shipping, and I am pretty sure I killed it. That was months ago, and it still makes me sad! It happens, but not much to do but enjoy the ones who make it!
Thanks so much, I was thinking that nothing would ever happen and then within 15 minutes 2 of them hatched and then another pipped, zipped and hatched before I realised that it had even pipped as I was watching the first 2. How long does it take for them to fluff up so I can take them out of the incubator cos they are really rolling the other eggs around?
Wow, that is awesome! Hatching like popcorn! If your humidity is where it should be, it takes a couple hours to fluff. My broody chick was fluffed in about 5 mins, and the incubator ones took all day. If you are still hatching though, DON'T OPEN THE INCUBATOR unless you have to! You are still in lockdown:). The rolling won't hurt the other eggs, some even say it stimulates hatching to hear/feel their mates. Chicks get nourishment from the yolk they just absorbed for the first 24-36 hours, so don't worry about food/water. Good luck! So exciting!!!

2 more that are really trying to come out but the little ones keep jumping all over the eggs, poor babies.
I had to open incubator as I could see my water trays were low, so I fill them with warm water and my humidity was back up within 10 mins so all is well.

I still just have the one out and I have 11 more pips. None are zipping yet. The one that is out will frantically chase my flashlight as I move it from one egg to another, rolling them all. A min ago she was also pecking at the other eggs
