Apparently my sweet little lavender orpingtons are homicidal!!!
I put them all in a brooder in my master bath til we're ready to put them outside, and I go in to the bathroom and my 2 blue copper marans are facedown in the waterer with lav orps standing on the back of their heads!!! I pulled them out real quick, but it was too late, both had no heartbeat and were getting cold.![]()
Beautiful! And all mine throw themselves over and lay oddMy two little ones this morning:
They are in the brooder, and the darker one did a big poop. Yeah!! They have Chicksaver water and baby food and are learning about their new environment.
Last night I found this at 3 a.m.:
No, she isn't dead. sleeping on her back, evidently. I took this picture about 7 when I got up, and she was doing it again. When I panicked and opened the window on the bator to check on her last night she jumped up and started running around. Anybody have any experience with this? She had a tough time getting out of the shell -- helped after 36 hours, but other than this weird sleeping position, she seems fine. She hatched about 24 hours ago.
Been in lockdown for 12 hours now. Nothing yet....waiting camera in hand lol. Ill get picks next to an OEGB chick and a standard sized mutt chick to show y'all how tiny these lil ones are22 eggs went to lockdown, shipped eggs, any bets as to how many hatch? (Can y'all tell I'm bored?)

Interestingly they all look to be black with different white and yellow markings on them (except for the lavenders). It's funny since they come from 7 different hens of completely different breeds and colors!
