June Hatch-A-Long

Alright heading into lockdown tomorrow (day 18 for the chickens and day 14 for the quail). This hatch has been rough. I started with 27 chicken eggs and 20 quail eggs. I'm now down to 12 chicken eggs and 15 quail. I really don't know what went wrong since everything was same as last time. I had 4 quitters, 3 blood rings and I guess the rest clears. The quail I'm not sure but there's no veins or dark areas so either clear or quitters. I have pretty big air cells on everything so I'm bringing the humidity up probably starting in the morning. It's been at 40% and now its 50% and I'll bring it to 65% tomorrow. I hope the quail and chicks hatch together ok. I hope tomorrow is the correct day to start lockdown. I set the chicken eggs Thurs April 29th and the quail June 2nd. Wish me luck

I am so super excited!!!

My broody hen Scarlett hatched her first chick this morning. When I went out to give her a few treats I seen it peeking out from under her. It almost made me want to cry. She is sitting on 5 more, so here is hoping for a few more chicky babies.

I just love her to bits.

They are adorable! Ducklings are the best! Are they any harder to hatch than chicken eggs?

I've never actually tried to hatch chicken eggs, I've always been more of a duck kinda girl
But I find it fairly easy to hatch duck eggs. Maybe it's just me though!

My button quail eggs are supposed to go into lockdown at 3 pm today. I'll be gone at that time, so I've just laid them down and am heading out now. It's day 13, and I've not seen movement (the eggs are super dark though), but they're all practically full. I pulled some clears yesterday, and the rest (except one iffy one), all seem developed.

This little cheeper hatched out on the 11th of June . . . . In the drawer next to my aga! Set 6 off, 3 were duds and the humidity went haywire and the other 2 didn't hatch. This little sablepoot is going strong however!

I am just excited to be a little over half way there, LOL! Though the last few days will go excruciatingly slow, I am sure!
