Oh my goodness, I don't come on for a day..and there are chicks everywhere! Congratulations everyone who has new little ones!

I am going out to candle my mama hens eggs. May sneak a couple more under her. Tomorrow is lock down for her and the ones in the bator. Wonder if she knows that..nah!

Right like you are the only one with that problem I think that is why most of us are here to take up the waiting time required ............LOL

Yay !! We have 3 chicks out! 3 have pipped were supposed to be silkies but so far 2 are something else.. Kind of greyish in color and have 4 toes and feathered feet... Any ideas ?? The little one in front is the one I'm describing.. Lol

All these chick photos are making me want to do a last candling and lock down my incubator tonight... but lockdown isn't until Wednesday. SO anxious for our first hatch!

Very first? You must be soo excited all right.

Just candled, all three that I stuck under her are still viable. Getting pretty dark in there, wondering if a couple will hatch early .. on day 19 or 20.
I have one inside here that I can see a shadow in the air sac already. Not an internal pip, no chirping, but big enough to push the sac into the air sac area..could very well pip on day 19..Thurs. Due date Fri.

Yep, very first! I haven't candled since day 10 and it's really really hard to keep my hands out of the incubator! I just want to check on my 'babies' every night... Going to do the last candling tomorrow night and then lock them down Wednesday morning so my kids can help. At day 10 we had 12 good eggs and 4 with dark shells that I wasn't sure of (and I tossed 7 bad eggs, mostly the shipped ones). Ours are due on Saturday

How fun, it never gets old. Good luck. Has to be more fun with the excitement of the children right there. I think you are going to have some baby chicks soon.
Yes, shipped eggs..a gamble for sure. I have had good hatches, and of course, my fair share of bad one. The ones that I am incubating now were given to me by friends. So, air sacs are beautiful! And, most are viable.
