Got Zookeeper's mixed bantam eggs!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

12 were beautiful. Looks like the others were slightly cracked and oozing. Not sure HOW that happened, they were tightly wrapped in bubble wrap!

The new egg turner arrived also. Now waiting on the late delivery of my new Hovabator!

So.....what are the mixed bantams? We're all dying to know!

They came out of the pen I killed the possum in on Friday. There are Black Cochins (roo & hens), Partridge Cochins (roo & hens),a black frizzle hen, a bantam RIR hen, and some kind of Silkie cross roo all in there. We get 1 cross out of 3 that we hatch out of there. Most are Black Cochins. The rest are from that silkie cross roo. They either have 5 toes or black skin. Good luck with the survivors. I hope your bator comes tomorrow!

My 5-year-old is pleased! She figured "C" was for Cochin!

If the new incubator doesn't get here tomorrow, we'll start them in the one already going and change them over to the other one when it comes.

When we get our 100% English Orp flock up and laying, if the swaps are still going on, we'll have to join it again. This is fun!

IF the swaps are still going? it'll be a cold day 'way down south' when i stop swapping... tho i am taking a short break.

Well, then keep it going until November and December when I can get some eggs out of these beautiful babies!

I will have to quite for a few months this winter. Here in Minnesota the eggs, will freeze in no time. I talked to my post master and she suggested not trying it. The trucks the packages go on to the sorting facility are not heated and they would likely freeze on our unavoidable -30 degree days. That being said I have gotten eggs shipped to me that made it just fine in January, but the weather was unseasonably warm.
