so i think one of my other hens is getting the broody bug from my broody bantam!!!! she was on the nest last night and keeps nocking my broody off her nest and taking it, so i dont know how this is going to work lol.

I'm building another chicken tractor, to resolve my overcrowding issue. It's only temporary, since this one can't be moved inside and winters are too cold.

So I have not given my broody any eggs yet because she is not staying on the nest at night to we because of the other hens, I was wondering if it would help if I moved her out of the fave laying spot, the only other place that would be safe for chicks would be a totem side ways on the coop floor. Does anyone think this will work? Or should I get some of that peck no more stuff?

Uh, totem or tote? If tote, that is fine.

Given that she's in the fav nesting spot it makes a lot of sense why the others kick her out.

I cant believe it but.... I think s third chicken is going broody!!! I've only.had one go broody and have never had several at a time, is it any different? Will they still each others eggs should I try and separate them in different spots of the coop?

Just picked up my hatching eggs... they are really small! Will this be a problem?

We had to go away for 5 days and left my boyfriend's elderly cousin in charge of collecting eggs. We left ample food, water and made treat bags for all our animals to make it easier. I called each evening to check on things and was told he'd only collected 1 duck egg. I always get at least 1 every day so I thought where I was gone, they're schedule was disrupted. It was late when we got home so I waited until the next morning to see all and got a big surprise (sorta). I found the 3 missing eggs sitting together in the chickens dust bath but not being sat on. I have khaki Campbell ducks and have always used broody bantam hens for hatching all my chicken and duck eggs. My boyfriend asked if I had any broody hens still. Luck would have it and my partially blind Columbian Wyandotte was so I slipped all 3 duck eggs under her last Sunday (6/24) and she is still contentedly sitting on them. If all goes good, we should have 3 eggs hatching around July 18-20. Happy hatching to all!
