June to July Turkey Hatch-a-Long!

Yes, I know people were looking for poults all over the state during the springtime, so I'm hoping there's still a market for them because I may be overrun! :lau
:) our broody hatched a chick today!

Lockdown is tomorrow! I'm excited.

I had a hen up and go broody on me, so I'm hoping to pop some of the resulting chicks and poults under her, if she'll take them!
Yay! We put all 7 chicks under the mama hen yesterday night. Hoping that you have a good hatch!

Oh, that's awesome, I'm glad she's taking to them!

We started lockdown this afternoon, and all 22 turkey eggs and 5 chicken eggs were looking good! I think I may have a cool spot because the ones directly under the fan seemed a little less developed, but I am pretty sure a few of the other eggs from the outer edges already internally pipped!

Oh my goodness so this weekend was INTENSE but the hatch is about over, I'll be moving the remaining birds and probably stuffing them under a broody chicken I've got because I'm out of space in the brooder!

20 out of 22 turkey eggs hatched (one sadly died after pipping)
4 out of 5 chicken eggs hatched

The turkeys have SUCH an amazing variety of colors and patterns! I can definitely tell which ones came from which mamas, but there are a couple that have got me a bit stumped where I assume the tom's genes went strong. I hate that I have to sell most of them, but once I decide which ones I'm keeping, I look forward to seeing how they feather in!

I don't have pics of everyone (a few are still drying off in the incubator) but here's a sampling. LOTS of babies that clearly take after the blue slate hen, that's for sure!
