jury duty

I was picked once. Some kid who had a record, but cleaned up and was working and going to school, had an axe handle in his trunk. He worked for a pipeline company. His charge? Possession of a deadly weapon. No way in hell was I sending that kid back to prison for that!

Two days and I was the only one who said not guilty at first. He was acquitted!

I never go to Jury Duty, I check the block for "Active Duty Military" and I never get a call back.

I think it would be cool to get one of those high profile trials that takes a month, sequestered in a hotel with room service and HBO. Can't watch the news? Who Cares! just bad news anyway. It'd be like a mini vacation.

Since Im Active Duty I wouldn't loose and pay or benefits like other people with 9 to 5ers. You'd think they would LOVE to have us!

Speaking of Axe handles, I need to pick one up for my hatchet.....

I was called once, but had a restraining order againest the idiot that was on trial (long story, youngest daughter's deal, not mine,) but I was excused and then the next three times were postponed or cancelled, so I didn't get to do it at all. My best friend was on there with me, and she was excused also, but met her new BF there. It was a good day for her for sure!!!!

i think i am the ONLY person in Michigan, namely the Metro Detroit area that had never been picked for jury duty. my sister has been picked a bazillion times. (we live north of Lapeer now)

I LOVE DETROIT!!!! it's the best. you just have to know how to navigate the wheel system for the roads. Greek Town, Hart Plaza, Marniner's Cathedral, the Museums! the people watching is OUTSTANDING!!!! i lived at 6 Mile and Gratiot when i was a little kid and went to Assumption Grotto.

'I coulda been the Walrus. I'd still have to bum rides to school.'

I've been called a few times, and only made the seating once. The PA and defense went through the questions and one of them commented that I looked familiar somehow. I dropped him a wink and told him it was at the "alternative" bar. I guess he felt it was just cause to let me go.....

I was there as a driver dropping off a local singer and had no idea that I'd just met a prominent citizen of the city until I saw him in court. Man was he surprised.

I was excused from the trial with much chuckling from the jury pool

The only place I absolutely love in Detroit is the King Book store ( King's Books I think). I could spend HOURS in there. I LOVE that place.

I've been to Greek Town, and the casino, but I'm not much of a casino person. I've been to the Ren Cen, and got lost in that building.

We've been to a few Red Wings, Tiger's games, and few other things.

Other than that.... I'm all set with the place.

I think I've lived in a few major cities too long. ( NYC was the last place before I moved to MI ) I'm sick of tall buildings.

my aunt's all worked in the ren cen before blue cross sold it. my dad got in one elevator and my sis and i got in another when the doors opened. i was like ten and the oldest. doors closed. um....now what????? so, being a smarty pants, i just pushed EVERY button and figured we'd eventually find him. i was right! but it took a LOOOOOOONG time for everyone else on the elevator!

King Book store is huge, isn't it? a lot of floors.

i wonder if i will ever get picked for jury duty? maybe they figure the chickens can't make it without me or something????

The courthouse I was at was right next to King's books, so as soon as they let us out of there, that's where I headed.

I almost forgot the pewabic pottery place. I liked that place too. I hope to go back there sometime soon.

I've never even been summoned... which is probably good, since I am a stay at home mom for 3 kids (one in school), and would have no other child care... but I'd love to get summoned! I think it's such an important part of our judicial process.
