jury duty

I've always wanted to be picked. I have gotten to the stage of when they started doing questioning twice, but they got the jurors they wanted before they got to me.

Crusty, your employer has to pay you the difference of your jury pay and your regular pay, it's the law.

It isn't in the state of michigan. It might be the law in your state though.

It's 8:29 and in a few minutes into the court room we go. Time to go lock up the laptop.

I'll let ya all know what happens.

Dh has been called several times, the only time I was called I was exclusively breast feeding a baby. I was released from duty. I don't think the hubby has ever sat on a jury, but he gets called alot. My mom was on one where a guy shot up a bar in front of about 20 witnesses; it was a very short case.

The first day is over.
I can't discuss anything at this point per the judges instructions but I think tomorrow it will rap up.
I 'll let ya know what happens.

I've been called twice. Both times, I was excused because I was a party in an active lawsuit at the time (in both cases, suits involving work).

I am my employer. I provide daycare in my home. I can't say to the parents, "you need to find alternate daycare for 20 days, but you still have to pay me for those days".

If I were still at my old job, it wouldn't be a problem - My union negotiated full pay for jury duty.

Self employment didn't even cross my mind.
