don't forget to attach a chain or non flammable cord to your light as an extra measure of security... the clamp on lights can fail with heat or a pet can bump them....I would not like to read that my BYC buddie had a brooder fire.. I saw a post on here that gave me a reminder idea... Let's all be safe this holiday season.... I know what it is like to have my house burn down in December... Let me be the only one... Happy Hatching!!! hatch buddies.

Good advice!

I don't hang or clamp mine at all though

I use a metal grid over the top of my brooder box and the lamp sits right on top of it. Divider panels from wire dog crates work well, as do shelves from old freezers and such, or hardware cloth put on a frame, etc. It never moves, but if it were to fall it wouldn't end up in the bedding or on the birds.

However you heat your chickies, be safe!!
