Just about finished with my coop :)

Found some plans on home depot for this coop. It turned out to be way heavier than I expected so I had to figure out how to pick it up with my tractor. I still have to put a ramp on, install a couple trim pieces and mount feed and waterer. I put some solar motion lights on the exterior that reduce lighting to 25% lighting until it detects movement. And I let my border collies in at night after headcount to deter raccoons and skunks.

I was going to do solar panels on it but decided against it. I have 18KW solar on the house so I decided I will just hard wire in some power from the barn Since I am making way more power than I need. I still gotta install the fan in the peak but daytime Temps are in the 60s now and getting down into the 30s at night so I figure I can tackle the fan in spring and focus on getting it ready for the snow. I also mounted a trailcam on the back of the barn that sends motion alerts and video to my phone so if some raccoons come in I can go out there.

I am in Northern Utah. It normally as smoky but the jetstream is bringing smoke from the California wildfires. But yes I love it here! The military stationed me here in 2001 and decided I was going to retire here here is a picture of around the same time of day without the smoke.
