Just adopted some chickens - gender/breed?

Peanut is a Buff Brahma Bantam Hen. And the black Bantam look like mixes.

I was told they were bantams and Peanut certainly looks like one with her fluffy butt and feet, but the thought did occur to me that they might just be very young and therefore regular small hens! I guess time will tell

I'm so excited to have them, I've been on BYC for hours looking at coops (definitely need to upgrade the freebie they came with!)
I was also told they were "2 months off lay"...how old does that make them? Obviously I don't expect someone to know all the answers, I'm just curious and impatient

I wish I'd gotten more information out of the previous owners! Though I'm guessing they were just beginners as well, nothing fancy about the chooks OR coop.

They are definitely older than 8 weeks. I'd say they are closer to 4 months old. The first one is a buff brahma, and looks like she may have a copy of the blue gene, although it's hard to tell from the pic. The others are mixed breeds.
