Just another reason to check with the neighbors before getting peas...

are peacock eggs good to eat? That might help with the population explosion......? ::is hoping cause she was actually thinking about getting one before all this..::

Their eggs are fine to eat, but they only lay every 2-3 days and are pretty good at hiding their nests.

I certainly believe they could have. But...the whole idea of an angry person of unknown intelligence/conscience trying to kill things with any kind of gun or poison is scary though. If the poison is placed carelessly, it could harm not just pets...but even little kids who sometimes try eating things they see an animal eat. If I lived in that neighborhood, I'd be up in arms if unknown people were taking such actions...even if I hated the peas.
People kill raccoons, possums, foxes, coyotes, snakes mice rats and other folks pets even if they never bothered their flocks and some people feel the same way about their non animal things if they thing something is a threat they do not want it around weather it has done anything yet or not.
Hop over to the preditor and pest section and take a look

I have a neighbor that will shot anything on his property and he ain't got one domesticated animal and never has in the 12 years he has lived there.

People have the same silly ideas about honey bees too.
Honey bees are so nice. If I see one on a flower I can cup my hands around it and hold it in my hands and it won't sting me. You can do the same thing with carpenter bees. For me it is the ground hornets and wasps that are evil.

Carpenter bees try to act like they are mean. If you swat at one it will fly zig zag back and forth in front of you and around you. They are bluffing though. They always bluff. I used to catch them with a butterfly net and relocate them so I learned their ways. The worst thing that happened to me with one was it flew over me and peed right on my nose.

I saw a video once on youtube about a community overrun with peafowl. Some people love them, some people hate them. I think they have tried to use birth control to keep the populations down but it doesn't work.

Yea i believe the real problem is there are just to many in the area, can you imagine a flock of 100 or more peas strolling threw your yard

and you should try mowing the grass or anything else with them around if they are tame, they can be pest, mine will steal things like my glove or my hubby's pencil, or screws he is using, he had a heck of a time teaching them to stay out of the new building but he did it, course if he goes in the house for more than 30 minutes and leaves the doors open one or all of them are going to go in, they can't help their nosey selves

Did you know that the carpenter bee that hovers in front of the hole, (nest), is the male? The female is quick to go in and out of the hole. The male will try to protect the nest by bumping you in the head or making threatening moves but that is all he is capable of doing, he has no stinger. Like honey bees, only the females can sting you.

Wow no wonder why I don't get stung! You know I figured it was the male that was defending the hole and fighting off the other bees, but I never knew he lacked a stinger! Very awesome info!

Haha Zaz that is funny when I get out a pencil to mark eggs once I find them, Peep likes to take the pencil from me and run off with it. He always seems so proud that he took the pencil too. I feel like if you lived in an area like that you could get a cover for your car. That way the peafowl won't get distracted by the shiny surface.
