Zwei started getting snow before she was a year old, from the shoulders down.

In their second year, first Sieben and then a few others started getting snow on their heads and neck. It helps me tell them apart from one another now, though three of the chocolates look very much alike from above and behind, but have distinctive patterns on their fronts.

I used the term "her hatch day" instead of "birthday." Apologies for the confusion. She's almost two years old. We don't have a drake right now. I had thought of having them sit on some fertile eggs from a friend's flock, but now that I am aware of the need to rescue abandoned ducks, I may just go that route. The disadvantage of adopting adults is that I miss that critical early age for socializing. But I feel that as long as I don't overload the flock with new members, the older ducks that I had raised will teach the others a bit.
