Just beginning . . . Should I buy an automated door for the coop?

Hi Sylviathecochin had a great response . just make your run secure and don't worry about the automatic door as long as it opens into the Run. now regarding the run. it's too small. you need 10 square feet per bird .okay you got 10 birds,so a hundred square feet . right now you have 64 so you need to add a little bit more length to your run.

I agree, the chickens are gonna need more space. Especially the jersey giant

Hey Vince I still inspect my lot and interact with my chickens daily! The automatic door isn’t like an infomercial set it and forget it. It just allows my schedule to be more flexible.

I got an automatic door off of amazon, called "the chicken guard" or something like that. Anyway, I just love it. I work at o'dark thirty so its too early to let my ladies out, this bad boy has a timer so i can set specific times to open and close or just have it set to the solar function and once the sun rises or sets it will open and close on its own. Definitely worth it form me.

I just like watching the chickens getting excited when I open the coop door in the mornings. These are very special pets. well loved!
