Just bought male quail is this infection?

Drove hour to pick this guy up as Im replacing my boy breeders.
I think he was in an over crowded pen and got raped by others
Hes wet cause gave him bath
I pressed it no foam, he did poo foam before. I think it hurts. The seller showed me 2 other quails like this.
My boys don't look this.
Is it infected or something else will it heal. Can I use him as breeder? He's very placid

No. But I have never even looked at or touched a quail.

Hes eating drinking pooping, was stunned it seems. now hes running around crowing in chicken tractor. i dont think hes every been on ground before i think he was in battery cages

Was he wet? If not, he's in terrible need of a dust bath. Poor fella. Some of my males developed small, normally pigmented bulges that always produced foam from the vent when expressed. This is bigger and possibly redder than that.

Unless it shows further signs of infection (increased redness, hotter than surrounding skin, gets bigger, or produces any kind of pus), I would let him get used to the ground but keep an eye on him the next couple days. If it turns out not to be infected, you could see if a topical steroid like cortisone reduces the swelling.

I honestly don't know what this is though, so best course of action is to get him settled, watch for changes, and see if anybody can pinpoint what's causing this.

Looks like either a Hernia, or a tumor.

Kinda soft I think it hurt when I pressed nothing came out but he's been pooping foam. I think I'll watch him next few days. Leave him byself

Yes he was wet in picture I decided to wash him cause he smelt bad. Poor guy, they tried to give me a worse abused one at first apparently that was 9 weeks old maybe it was older. This guys beaks bit long too. Oww well he's got 6 weeks to wait for his females. Hopefully he's good by then

It maybe a hernia then. Not a whole lot you can do about those.

Is he pooping anything besides foam? If not, that would line up with the hernia hypothesis.
