I just bought 6 baby chicks. They are black leghorns. They are 2 to 3 weeks old. The lady that sold them to me told me that I am not supposed to use a heat lamp at all on them. My last white rock hens, I used a heat lamp on them for several weeks but this lady told me not to use a heat lamp on these chicks at all. Can anyone tell me if that is correct or incorrect? I have them indoors right now until they get a little older but I still feel I should be using a heat lamp for them.

Depends on the location and season. Since its summer, you probably wont need a heat lamp but if you live up north where it is cold all the time, then you need one. If its 90 - 85 degrees outside, you dont need a lamp.
