Ouch. was stacking wood and should have been watching him closer. And i hear a thud and a screech and I knew. He was turning into such a good dog. I was workin in the greenhouse the other day and had opened up the barn brooder to introduce everyone and it was tooo quiet. Kinda like with kids. And I went and looked and there was my bird dog( Golden retriever) laying on the floor of the chicken coop with a bunch of 8 wk old chicks walkin around him and he wasn't making a move! And he's gone. Not much fun digging a grave by the monte carlo head lights in frozen mud but I got the job done. Ouch. Sorry didn't know where else to vent. This just feels so comfortable now. I just cant believe I had to do this. Had to put down my other Golden last summer cuz he quit eating and was wasting away. He was old. This one had such potential. That I think is the hard part. Anyway thanks for listening.

So sorry for your loss. I lost one of the best dogs I ever had when he was only 19 months old. We were all out there with him when my friend ran over him on accident. My heart goes out to you, it's always a hard thing to deal with.

What happened to him? I couldn't decipher it from the post.

Sounds like he was hit by a car.
