Sara, a sug for you, the 1/2" mesh wire on the bottom will become packed with poo as it will not pass through it works great for quail and some bantams, but not standard size chickens. I beleave harry uses poultry wire for the bottoms of his breeder pens.

Also if you will not have a totally enclosed area for the chickens to go in at night closed from the run area, i would sug adding some heaver gaug steel wiring (maybe 3x2 over you poultry wire) on the sides as raccoons etc will rip right through poultry wire if they really want in.

I can post you a pic of the one breeder pen i have if you would like, it may give you a few idea's for yours, the breeder pen is very close to yours but has a small closeable house on it, dont remember if you seen it when you where here?

But your pen it is looking good..

Nice size to it also.

Thanks Charlie, those are some good ideas. The wire on the bottom I wasn't too sure of but I can easily change that. They are going to have a small part to go inside. The next model I am going to build a little coop on the end, basically just a box with a hinged door that will make it easy to clean out and collect eggs. I'll check yours out when I come for that araucana chick.

I built all my pens & Cages. And I hed never done anything in the past UNLESS putting a nail in the wall to hang a picture counts

Building is Fun, I do agree with Charlie, Take to 1/4 inch hard ware cloth off, It will cause you problems.
