I've been laid off, since July 2008... My job went to China...Its gone... I don't even consider myself unemployed anymore... If you could, How would you fix the unemployment problem here in the Good Ol' USA? I would like to see NAFTA thrown out, and heavy taxes, for American Companies that send our jobs away. I have no beef with The Chinese or Mexican workers.. I think its sad that Big Business exploits them for so little pay, and its almost slavery in some countries... Its all about more profit! How sad! Sooner or later, all the jobs will be "outsoursed" and there will be nobody here that can afford Chevy's and Whirlpool products!

I know..this country is starting to really get me scared...

A while back there was a steel pipe mill that was closed down. A few months later a huge shipment of steel pipe was found on the docks all stamped made in china. Our soldiers even carry items not made in the US. THAT has got to stop. Everything related to our fight in the war must be made here.

NAFTA has to go. CAFTA too. Imported items that compete with US made products need to be heavily taxed. I know this will P off our friendly neighborhood bankers (CHINA being our biggest lender) but it needs to be done. Any company that lays off in order to re-open a plant overseas must pay the unemployment and COBRA for their laid off workers out of pocket - not dump them on the state system.

The tax write offs for hiring this year are too small and too little tied to hiring. And, they should be specifically aimed at small business hiring so huge firms can't do hiring they were planning on doing and get big breaks for it.

(Some more banksters need to go to jail or be fired for their role in this debacle - it would open up some jobs!

Repeal NAFTA, take away China's "most favored trade status" and put the people back to work!!!!! Everybody can't be coporate raiders or CEOs.

I did not know that about products made for the war. That is pathetic! I totally agree with your post!

I would put regulations into effect that we have to follow at work - Buy America. Any items we purchase over $2500 MUST be made in America. This applies to our buses, road vehicles, computer systems, new construction (which we are going through now). We found manholes covers stamped with "Made in Mexico". They had to be removed and re-purchased from America. Of course we joked "Just stick NEW in front of it"

This regulation would help alot of Americans. Its a pain now because so many things are NOT made here. Imagine if it were mandatory??

I hate that you've lost your job. But I agree with you 100%.. I have no problem with Mexican workers either. Provided they are here legal. If we sent the ones that aren't legal, out. Then that would free up quite a bit. But the BIG Business don't want to do that since they can pay them so little. I do understand that Americans are veiwed as expecting to much pay, for the work involved. I don't think it's that we expect so much, it's the fact that it costs alot to live. Not lavishly either. They are paying for cheap labor and still charging premium dollar for everything they sell. Yes, stop outsourcing or pay heavy taxes. But again, if they dont outsource, how will they line their pockets with the riches they are now accustomed to. Blah blah blah... I could go on, but now I'm aggravated and rambling....
