I'm actually surprised by how many people won't even eat their own eggs raw

Interesting!

Yeah I like eating cookie dough before I cook it but I don't really consider that eating raw eggs. Kind of like how I'm not a real big olive fan but I love pizza. Raw egg just seems a bit weird.

The only way i'll eay any eggs raw is in cookie/cake dough. Then it doesnt count as "raw" to me...

i have never tried eating raw eggs. though if i had the choice between grocery or my own (when my chickens start producing eggs) i'd rather eat my own.

I eat raw eggs in cookie dough, eggnog, mayonnaise and all that, but it never occurred to me to try them by themselves. Do they taste good raw?

I don't like to eat or drink RAW eggs by itself. It felt like a rubbery yolky snot going down. Weird texture for me but the bodybuilders LOVE them!

However in batters, cake mixes, doughs and even a piece of bread dough, yummy!

What do think you are going to see if they are contaminated?

Backyard flocks are just as susceptible given that salmonella is transmitted by wild animal and rodents feces, and can be spread by flies. Then there are those folks who don't refrigerate them... Yet, even in commercial egg production salmonella tainted eggs are rare. They say 1 in 20,000 may be contaminated and then an egg has to be consumed by somebody that didn't properly cook it.

You could eat raw eggs, commercial or home-produced, for the rest of your life and never get sick, but there is a risk there.
