Just curious? Who names all their chickens and who doesn't?

All 140+ birds on my property right now have names. Almost every single one that has come through my hands has had a name. I write them down so we dont forget and the kids cant argue "i named that one!" "no! I did!"
Unfortunatly said bird doesnt respond to their actual name and/or becomes indistingishable from a bunch of others so they all become "henny" or "turkey" or "duck". Lol. The guineas though, i just point and guess (theres only 2 now and their identical). The kids think ive got some amazing superpower to know which is which, lol

My boyfriend surprised me with so many chicks (and two ducklings) at the same time, I couldn't dream of naming them all, and couldn't tell them apart! Now, they are slowly getting personalities and that makes it easier. So I have a Napoleon -- he's a banty rooster who is definitely in charge of the flock; a Zsa Zsa & Eva (white silkie bantams) and a Grace, named after my grandma, because she's a red one and my grandma had red hair, and she is very friendly. The rest -- will take some time or won't be named.

Oh, I'm a brand new member, as of today.

Oh, finally -- I wouldn't name one if I was raising it for meat. Call me sensitive, but a chicken with a name becomes a bit of a pet.

Well I finally got my 6 chicks on Sat 5/28 and am in the process of naming them. No one would help me

So here it goes (at least for now) 1. Barred Plymouth Rock = Oreo (cookie) #2 Australop- Dahlia(this may change) #3. Rhode Island Red= Ruby #4. Buff Brahma= Gypsy #5. Golden Lace Wyandotte= Fiona #6. Gold Sexlink=Taffy. These are my first chicks. I have a 2 year old border collie (Summer) who is quite fascinated with them! All is well in my garden right now.

I too name mine, but not all. Since we have 15 roosters and 15 hens from this last bunch. I only name the hens that come to me... my RIR`s hehe and I name just a few Roosters knowing that the others will be dinner (sorry). And I do have 3 left from my last ones big Red RIR, Rusty my mini Bantum, and Smudge she is a legger. But now I just got 20 turkeys a month ago and only my biggest tom has a name seeing as how he always seems to get out of the pens so I named him Houdini. We all have a name why not them

I made the mistake of naming my chickens. Then I fell for them. It made it very difficult this morning when I went out and found Ana gone. A creature got under the fence and took her. I won't be naming anymore of my chickens.

My birds get two names first kids then girls or roo, with one exception dufus. She is a good layer but boy is she DUMB! Been in the same coop for a year and still has troube finding the run door if she's alone

my daughter named one of our RIR hens "Mr. Blue" why, I'm not sure. Then again, she was only 3 at the time.

Having two daughters, all of our chickens get named. We haven't named the new rooster yet; he was supposed to be a pullet, so he needs a name change.
