Ok so i got a little impatient and candled a few of our babies tonight. I did 4 and im not sure about 1...thought i seen veining in two others..and a definate embryo on the fourth!!! Going to manufacture and better candleing system and get my hatch buddy cassie to help document. Boss wants a detailed account of everything. Planning to do them all on sunday pm...wish me luck!

So, it is day 7 and i just candled. I started with 40 bantam eggs in my Brinsea ( I had to double stack 5 eggs). Of those 40, only three were obviously not developing--one had a blood ring, and 2 were both as clear as can be. So right now, I have 37 banty eggs that seem to be progressing nicely!

Day 7 for me as well. I candled and 8 eggs (all from the same chicken) were not fertilized. ARRRRRGGGGG. So much for that. One had a blood ring. Out of 26 I have 17 still going strong. Had some humidity issues this weekend since our weather changed from 50's to low 30's and snow. Can't wait for it to be over.

HA! It must be the weather or something. I should have just known that feisty Goldilocks wasn't going to let my Australorp anywhere near her. The other egg had a bacteria ring and I really should have taken a picture. It would have been great for educational purposes. At least I have a very fertile and viable Russion Orloff/ Australorp. I will definetely keep it if it makes it through. Both of my EE eggs are also viable. Can you believe it, I have a pullet that started to lay eggs about a month ago and out of fun I added some of her eggs to my selection and THEY ARE ALL FERTILE. They are so tiny though, I hope the chicks will be ok. Well, then her name is Pweweny too because she was always so small. Hoping for the best. Good luck to everybody out there.

wow I wonder what that combo will look like?
I know my OEG eggs are SO small I compared one of the extras to a regular white egg and the OEG was the size of its yolk......hahaha

Oh man, now you really have me all excited to go home and take a picture of the egg. I have not yet thrown it out, it's laying in the kitchen. Thankfully we have a second bathroom with no windows and it is PERFECT for candling at any time of the day. This has been my second living room for days

Husband knocked on the door yesterday saying "Are you going to come out again anytime soon?" I said "Only 14 more days honey!"
