Just filled my incubator! due to hatch 5/1 anyone want to join me?

How is everybody doing? It’s Day 9/10 for me. I think I am facing 2 early quitters. One still had an air cell when candled 2 days ago but now it is gone and what I thought is veins might be a bacteria ring starting. It looks nothing like my others which have a big dark mass in it that moves around. I also see the yolk moving way to easy in it. The other one was my worry child EE egg. Although it was clean it looks to be developing a blood ring also. Oh well, I will give them until Friday and see what happens. Everybody else is doing good so far despite the crazy thunderstorms we had last night.

We lost power for about 10 minutes early this am, due to thunderstorms, but I checked the incubator, and it mainained a fairly good temp for that time. The eggs certainly did not get any colder than they did when I candled them... I think I will candle again today--I had some questionable eggs on Sunday. I removed 3, but I;m hoping I can make a definite yes or no decision today.

We made it into the newspaper! I had a very stressful day yesterday and needed some Quiet time, so i came down to school to turn our babies one last time before tucking them in for the night. Needing some reasurance i candled them. I think we still have 11 viable but Im certain the other 5 are a no go. How theraputic to sit in the dark with this orange glowing orb in my hand watching the life inside moving around. Totally oblivious of the stress of my day. Oh to be that carefree where your only responsibility in life was to delvelop. Made my whole day better.

So, I candled again and ALL of the remaining eggs ( I previously removed 3) seem to be developing, except ONE that is still questionable!

I am just amazed that out of 40 shipped eggs, from 3 different sellers, only 4 have been duds! Believe me, I am not complaining--I'm just pleasantly surprised! Of course, there is still a long way to go before I have 36 banty chicks, but so far, so good!

I wonder if my Brinsea can handle 36 banty eggs in lockdown---I still have to stack 2 or 3 to make them all fit......

Hey Pat, you are really doing good! I had another dud so I am now down to 14. Interestingly enough, the one dud was the only and last egg if my game hen. The other 8 were infertile, this one was fertile but dudded out. Now I have my young hen all egg bound so I must maek a trip to the emergency section.

Candeled and still have 43 out of the 62 I started with. Lost 7, maybe 8 of the only shipped eggs I have. They are Australorps, and I started with 15. Have 14 of the 16 Ameracaunas still going, 2 of 5 Cuckoo Marans, 4 of the 6 Polish, 12 of the 15 BBS Rocks, and 4 of 6 barred rocks. !/2 were quitters, and aboout 1/2 were not fertile. Not bad, as long as most of the ones left are pullets!! .......stan
