Well... First night alone. Will monitor them, heat gun shows their cluster between 40-70F in places. I'm sure when they get the hang of it fully they'll be in the coop in no time.

Poor little roos will be finding a new home lol

Went out and heard an awful squak constantly thought a chick(baby or adult) was stuck...

Nope, just two roo chicks pecking and chest bumping each other lol

Mama's been half with them half not, she got out of coop about an hour after bedtime to check on them, and had them huddled near her once today so far. It's 35F and windy here in west central Indiana, and muddy, so muddy lol

And so it begins... Little roos being little roos... Two of them have pecking injuries, from previous experience it looks like they are fighting each other, not hen picking on them (generally that would be from top down, as I said in my experience although who knows I don't sit out there all day lol)

Mama was trying to lay an egg (and did) with too much help lol

The sun came out! And while I was visiting, I noticed our 4 little roos legs: two have yellow legs (SLW) and two have pink legs (BO), 5 weeks old today. And SLW/BO cross, I hope to find them homes

Everyone was mingling just fine, granted while I was out there haha 😆

They are looking good!

Hopefully you can find homes for them.

Is she still brooding the others or has she weaned them?

I have used broody jail, but in colder temps, I'd just keep taking her out of the nest and at night place her on the roosting bar.

LOL She's a good girl though, a keeper.
She had a little roo with her. Will definitely watch her lol not fully weaned, still sitting with them at night, which is good. She is definitely a good Mama and we didn't have any issues integrating

Maybe she's just giving the little guy some more brooding time. Usually once they start laying eggs again, most of the chicks are weaned, but some hens just like to camp out in nests too. Maybe she just likes the cozy warmer nest with a chick.
Who knows what goes through their little sweet heads.

Just confiscate all eggs, check under her wings really well. I've had hens move eggs from one place to another by tucking them under their wings. Stinkers.

Did check all eggs. She did start laying last week, I think two eggs so far, she had two chicks in box with her lol

Her super fluffy is how we figured out she was broody to begin with (and kept escaping broody jail--it was a larger cage bc I had three go broody at once)
