Just found 1 wk old chick dead????

I have (had) 4 week old chicks and 3 4 week old chicks in separate brooders. I just found one of my little babies dead. She was fine the last time I checked in them. Her body is still warmish so I'd say it happen very recently. The others all seem fine but then she did too. What should I do? My 7 year old will be home from school soon and it was her favorite chick. Oh I'm heartbroken! How do I make sure the others are ok?

Sometimes chicks just die with no apparent reason or cause. It may have had a genetic defect or hidden weakness that did not present itself until now. As long as your other chicks are active, eating, drinking, and having healthy poops, there's no reason to be alarmed.
