Sounds great! I would never sleep in the summer and sleep all winter! Is it humid there?
I can deal with snow, darkness but humidity I hate...... My cousin lived there for awhile,
he was a bush pilot for a fishing lodge, worked all summer, then went to Hawaii all winter.. now that would be nice !

Thanks for all the posts and commisserating with me.. I appreciate it and feel for all of you experiencing similar situations and everyone suffering in this economy.

With all due respect, I've heard that villages in Alaska are some of the hardest hit. People are starving because they can't pay the 18 dollars a gallon of milk costs. How much is a dozen eggs at the store up there? I heard that can run up to 22 dollars for just a dozen. At least in the remote areas. So can we all come up there and get rich on our chicken eggs?

I hear the grandma of the Octuplettes house is up for foreclosure; got room for 16 extra people? I traded a shed removal for a hog: bill was 10 months overdue. I figured something is better than nothing and the guy gets a bill paid. I wish everone prosperity.

I really wonder if anyone out there hasn't been hit hard by the economy? I see other parents at sporting events and every one seems the same. Am I the only one out here having to make major cuts? My hubby works on a drilling rig and they were recently hit. Per diem was taken away, 401k is no longer matched, and they are only promised work 4 weeks in advance. So every month we are crossing everything we can, toes, fingers and eyes!! I'm really concerned because we have an ARM mortgage that goes up this May. No one wants to refinance us so we can get out of it but then again the govt won't help us because we aren't in foreclosure....

So sorry to hear about the pay cut.

It makes these hard times even harder.

With all these layoffs, I'm wondering how long the unemployment system will be viable.

Same thing happened to my girlfriend. She got a raise in October and then it got taken back in January.

We have had to put a bunch of our customers on a cash up front basis. They had been 60-90 days behind. They are mad, but what do they expect us to do??? Half of our customers are realtors and mortgage people. They haven't ordered a blessed thing in months.
