Just found out someone complained, I don't want to lose my girls!

I just read all this and couldn't imagine this happening to me

so I decided to look up where you live to see whats going on and got your news station KGW-(KGW.com) they did a news story on it and are rewriting an ordanance-I know its the time thing-but they do have a poll you can click on to vote-well I put my yes for chickens vote in and so far 76% of the people voting are yes-maybe everyone reading this can put there vote in-it would show support-but I would really push to get an extension!! I truly hope this works out for you!!!!!

If they won't give you a reprieve, could you find a friend who would keep them until the law is resolved? You could set up a temporary pvc hoop enclosure in a friend's backyard.

Just wanted to say, Missy Chicky, that I know just how much those hens mean to you--particularly now, living in a new place, and in the suburbs. Our family has moved a few times in the past two years, from rural places to our current digs in the 'burbs, and I have experienced how our chickens have made all the difference for my daughters' and my own well-being in all the transition. There is nothing like going out to the hen house and scooping up a chicken in a hug when you're down. They can be so funny and silly and sweet! Anyway, it sounds to me like Salem, OR is on its way to becoming a sane city in regards to chicken-keeping. I'm sure even if you have to relocate your hens, it will be a temporary situation. You are doing AMAZING things right now! Good for you to come here for support, and then to go follow through and do everything you can! You go, girl!

have you thought about posting a thread that reads salem oregon chicks need help. And ask someone if maybe they have a place or know of someone that has a place on their land where you could keep your chicks till the law is overturned. I mean I know some people don't want other fowls on their property, but maybe someone knows of someone that would let you have a small corner on the opposite corner of their flock. you might even offer to pay for the short time period. Good lcuk

I got the doctor to sign the slip that says my chickens are for my health and I sent it to the compliance officer who sent it to another department Where they will check if there is a exeption for my chickens. Now all I can do is wait and pray...

if you have a note from your doctor than that falls under the HUD fair housing act, also ADA americans with disabilities. if they don't let you keep them then they will be charged with discrimination.

i'm not trying to cause trouble, but read my story if you get a chance. what my city has done to me, dragging me through the mud is inexuseable. they are so stupid and arrogant they believe federal law does not apply here. even the city attorney, Mr. Kelly, is with the firm who represented me and was my attorney b4 the city. big conflict of interest. so i don't care if this miffs anybody off but i will help all i can. best of luck to you.
