I have 4 chickens 2 of them from Tractor Supply they just called them Pullets they are Black and Blonde in color, and then I got 2 older chickens from a farm close bye that I found One is red and the other is black in color I will post pics once I learn how
. The small ones are about 2 to 4 weeks and the older ones are 5 to 6 weeks . I had them inside but thought they would like it better outside . I live in Florida and the night temps are 60deg. and I closed in bottom of coop with a red heat lamp . Is this ok? It just seemed to make sense. Aslo do I just feed them chic food? Any treats? I built my own coop it is made of all aluminum will try to get pics of that as well. I used half inch hardware fence all around and bottom. and 4- 12 x 12 nesting boxes with a 6 x 10 run . I hope that is sufficiant. i know very little but am looking foward to fresh eggs and the fun of having them. When do they lay eggs? Can my kids pick them up and pet them? Is that safe for them and the chickens? I layered the bottom of the entire coop with sea shell thinking it would stay dry and easy to maintain. Any thoughts on that ? I will once they start going up stairs to there beds put chavings for them to lay on. Any thoughts and advise would be great! Do I need to install a fan since it gets hot in the summer? Or just some vents?
