Just got a pair of Australorps and both look a bit worst for wares

I definitely think infection of some type... and still would not want to roll the dice on whether it's contagious or not... sorry...

When you return them be sure to thoroughly wash any clothes you wore when with them & different pair of shoes once you get back to your bird -aside from serious washing up from being around them and on that seller's property

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I took the hens back and the seller was mortified that the hens were even sent out. Turns out she had a piece of broken husk stuck in her eyeyes, he was able to remove it and show me while I was there. Still gave me some new Australorps anyway but it was good to see hI'm prove it was not illness.

Glad to hear the seller took back the 2 BA's. Just remember, even if the new birds look healthy, a period of isolation before mixing with your existing flock is always a good idea.
