Just got finches!

lol thanks the one female has started sleeping in the nest and the nest just keeps getting bigger and bigger hope they lay soon! thanks for all the info

it's just a matter of time now. she likes the nest now. Soon both will be in it. Then possible eggs.

remember if you see that one is always in the nest later on, there is a good chance it is sitting on eggs. If so they both will take turns and together at night be in there...

But that could be awhile, so don't lose hope...

Great information! I have had my Society Finches about 4 years and bought Zebra Finches last year. I got one male and three females. I didn't know you could house them together. I keep the birds in 3 flight cages 12x24x16 high with 2 nests each. I have raised 2 dozen Society Finches and a dozen Zebras. They seem to be more prolific. Right now I have 7 birds in each cage. I gave the rest away. I was cleaning the Society cage today and discovered a new babie. They haven't hatched a chick since last fall. I was pleasantly suprised! The Zebras are sitting on 6 eggs. They just finished raising 3 chicks about a month ago. Here we go again!
