Thanks for all the welcomes in the intro page! I just bought my very first flock of chicks. I first thought I would get 6 - 8 but when the guy asked how many, I blurted out 12. What has I thinking?! I have them in a cardboard box with a45 watt bulb and a household heating pad underneath at the med setting. The are in the basement on a table with a faux fur piece of material draped over some of the box to keep the heat in. I just turned the pad off for the night, nervous about the box being on top, tho I do have two plastic lids under the edges to create a space for the pad. Feel like a nervous mum with her first baby! LOL The ppl at TSC said they are called Red pullets. and read the sign which stated straight run. So will be waiting to find out if I got all hens or a cple roosters show up. Anyway, am excited and anxious at the same time, Excited I make a good "broody hen" and anxious that I do not do them harm. Again, thanks for the encouragement!
