Just got my chickens last week. My husband thinks I'm nuts.

And then even your friends get in on the act - FB message that I just received from a friend...

"Crazy Chicken Lady I need more eggs. Three dozen please. I have $ and your egg cartons"
 
Oh all husbands think that when we get chickens. My husband refused to believe me we were getting them until a little peeping package came in one day to our doors. now 18 weeks later he loves them too

quarter mile down the hill from us that has 3 acres and some old coops attached to it. I did the exact same thing, renovated all the coops and got 10 Welsummer's. When I picked up the Welsummers from my now friend Kate she looked at me and said "these are your first chickens, huh?" Yes they are.. "Ever heard of chicken math"? No.

Now I have 18 Welsummers, 10 Naked Necks, 26 Danish Banty's, 20 Buff Orps, 20 Silver laced, 6 NJ Giants, 5
Wyandotte mutts and 4 Danish Banty's at the upper house.. When my wife pokes fun at me I simply tell her "My
chickens understand me".. I free range all of them except the Bants, they prefer to just stay away from the bigger birds in their luxury coop.


Anyway, Hello everybody. I am in a small town as far North in CA as you can get without getting into Oregon.
