I just got my flock in the mail. Unfortunately one did not make it. Poor thing looked like it had been trampled. My mystery chick also was not looking too good. Mystery chick started to move around a little but still not as active as the others. Hoping She??? makes a recovery. I am keeping an eye on her??? as the day goes on.

Unfortunately Mystery chick did not make it through the night. I thought she was going to make it when I went to bed. But this morning as I looked in on the sleeping peeps I saw that she was underneath several of them splayed full out does not look good. I will be pulling her out now and putting in more water for them. I guess the Mystery chick will remain a mystery, may she rest in peace. I guess I'm off to a realistic start with my first flock.

Sorry you lost 2, but congrats on your new peepers! They're super cute :)

You can contact the hatchery for a refund on those chicks that didn't survive. They'll likely give you credit for the next time you order.

Good luck with them!

I got them from Murray McMurray. I called about the first one that did not make it and they gave me a credit. I have now lost another over today, was not looking good this morning, lethargic compared to the others and similar to how the mystery chick was behaving last night. My co-worker received his from me after I off loaded mine and one of his(out of 6), that never left the box, never made it home intact with him so I will call and see what they say. I'm not expecting anymore credit from Murray McMurray, just want them to know. Plus the mystery chick was free so I would not expect a credit for that one anyway.

But the adventure has started, though not as well as I hoped. I hope I am not doing anything wrong is all. And this will not stop me from ordering from Murray McMurray in the future.

The deaths are most likely because of shipping stress, and there's not a thing you can do about that. Just enjoy the ones that have made it :)

Thank you. That does help to hear. And I will enjoy the ones I have left. Strangest thing is I counted really good when I first got them and so I knew I had 11 chicks and yet after I have buried 3 I still have 9. Go figure. I can't explain it. Side effect of chicken math mabe???
