I am leery of ANY hatchery that wont reveal where their birds or hatching eggs come from. If they don't give that out, keep on looking.
All in all, you can do better by looking at Marans at a good reputable breeder, particuarly if they do belong to a Marans Club...there are several of them out there but not sure which ones that would be the "top".
The only hatchery that would give me the information was Estes Hatchery when I asked him where they get their Welsummers from...from Calicowoods Farm via Harry Shaw. They told me that bought the whole flock from his widowed wife and it has been several years. Not sure of the quality of the birds as of right now. At least they didn't withhold information from me when I asked.
Hi Folks if your interested I have a hatchery in Idaho and I have BCM and Welsummers available this year. My Welsummers came from a breeder here in Idaho
and Ideal Hatchery. The BCM's came from many breeders some are Bev Davis lines and some of the eggs came from a local breeder Rusty's Woman on BYC in Boise and I ordered a lot of eggs off Ebay. I am doing my best to stay within the Frech Standard. They are laying a nice dark egg. My web site is www.pinepride.com/quail the name of the hatchery is Quail Valley Hatchery. If you have any qustions i would be happy to talk to any one about them. Thank you For your time. John
If you have ordered a catalog or poultry/products in the past year you automatically get one. If you haven't give us a call and we'll send one out ASAP!
I just got my cataloge two days ago! I think its great.
I have a question though, i am thinking about ordering 6 chicks from them, 2 BLRW, 2 Turkens, and 2 Exchequer Leghorns, Under the leghorns and BLRWs page it says order limit 10 or something like that, does this mean i have to order at least 10 of that breed? or just 10 chicks all together? Or can i keep the amount of chicks and breeds i want? When i start going through the process of buying and ordering the chicks it never says i cant order them that way.
Thanks!
