Sooo... I finally got to pick up my chicks! Came home with two BR, 3 Americaunas, and 1 "Californian".

I do not know what a "Californian" chicken is, but that's what the lady said it was, and my daughter insisted on the "Yellow chick with black spots."

Anyone know what I wound up with? Should I wait a few weeks and just post in the "What Breed" section?

anyway... I'M SO EXCITED TO HAVE MY CHICKS! YAY!

congrats on the baby chicks...

Congratulations on the new chicks!!
I am guessing that the Californians are California Whites.. I've never had any though, but I bet if you googled them you could find some pictures

HA! So, i googled them, and it just looks like all the pictures are white chickens with fake spots on haha. We'll have to see how she grows up

Thanks!

& congratulations on your new babies.

The "Californian" is probably a "California White" and your "Americaunas" are most likely Easter Eggers ~ a mixed breed chicken which lays colored eggs. EE's are very nice to have.

Here is the California White. Named Sassy by my 3 year old. The poor thing has been chased around the brooder all afternoon and still poses for a photo!

They were really cute... but they look like someone attacked them with a sharpie haha. Sassy has a faint spot on her back so we'll see how she fills out. Are yours friendly?
