Got the power back. Drove them to a friends in case it didn't come back. They were only there for 30mins or so and power came back here. Hopefully all good
Three out safely so far. I think I've lost one though, the second to hatch kept pushing an egg that pipped and now it looks like yolk is leaking out the pip hole :-(
It's a cheap Chinese 24 egg one I got online from www.realsmart.com.au - unfortunately their prices on incubators went up the week I purchased it, they are still fairly cheap.
Leaving it in the foam box standardized the temp, especially at the edges (I just added air holes to the foam box and replaceable windows so i can still see. Fluctuations were caused when opening it due to the auto egg Turner not working.
Four chicks are out now out of 9 in lockdown with one still just pipped and 3 nothing I can see, they have been pushed to the corners. There is the one I think drowned or had is yolk break from been pushed around too, its just sitting there
Another Barnevelder just pipped and the red Ancona is zipping. I'll have a black and red Ancona! First five to hatch will all be different if it's out next.
Congrats on your new babies! I just recently got one of those chinese bators, the 48 egg model, as a gift. Ive heard such terrible things about it, it's glad to see that someone's getting some chicks out of those cheap incubators! Did you have any problems with excessive vibration?
No, it's maybe a little noisy, but I'm not sure how loud it's meant to be. If you leave it in the foam make sure you drill the air holes in it, including the bottom. You need to then pop a block under each corner so air can circulate the bottom holes.
FYI I had 10 eggs that that showed growth, one quit before first candeling and 9 made lock down. 6 are now hatched at day 20.5 so I give the incubator a thumbs up. If the Turner worked it would have been perfect (for me anyway)
